A link that points to a page returning an error (commonly 404).
A broken link points to a URL that no longer works, typically returning a 404. Broken inbound links waste the equity you earned; broken outbound links hurt user experience. Broken link building — finding broken links and offering your content as a replacement — is a legitimate, white-hat tactic.
