The visible, clickable text of a link, which signals what the target page is about.
Anchor text is the clickable text of a hyperlink. It gives both users and search engines context about the destination page. A healthy anchor profile is mostly branded and generic, with exact-match keyword anchors as a small minority — an over-reliance on commercial exact-match anchors is a classic over-optimization signal.
